ScreenPlayer now updates itself. New versions download quietly and install the next time you restart or quit, or right away with "Restart to update" (Settings → General, or the tray menu).
Settings → General shows which version you have.
"Liked songs" from your YouTube account now only plays songs, no more Shorts, streams or other videos you liked.
Version 0.2.3
Choose where the voice model for automatic lyrics is saved (Settings → Lyrics → Saved in → Change…), for example on another drive. A model you already downloaded moves along.
Version 0.2.2
When several songs share a name, ScreenPlayer now plays the right one, from the album you picked.
Podcasts, interviews and fan edits that only mention a song's title no longer play instead of the song, or show up as its music video.
Version 0.2
A new name
The app is called ScreenPlayer now, with a new icon: a screen with a record in it. Your settings and lyrics move over by themselves.
Light
22 light styles, from Classic and Neon to Snow, Fireworks, Lava and Equalizer, each with a live preview in Settings.
Choose where the light shows: all edges, only the bottom, only the top or only the corners.
Only on the desktop: the light steps aside while you work and comes back when you look at your desktop.
Lyrics
Eight lyric styles: Karaoke, Fisheye, Spread, Typewriter, Neon, Echo, Glitch and Cinema, each with its own font.
A music note counts down to the next line during instrumental parts.
Other lyrics: pick another version of a song's lyrics when the first one is off.
The album cover can sit next to the lyrics.
Automatic lyrics (beta): when a song has no synced lyrics, ScreenPlayer listens along and writes them on your own graphics card.
Search and playing
Search finds songs, artists, albums, videos and playlists from YouTube Music.
Artist pages with top songs, albums, singles, videos and similar artists. Album pages with every track.
Tap the middle album in the cover flow to open its songs.
A queue: play next, add to queue, jump, remove and clear.
Start every song at 0:15, if you like to skip the intro.
Amazon Music works too.
Desktop
Clear your desk: one click hides your windows and desktop icons, and brings them back when you're done.
Captions on the music video wallpaper are off by default.
Version 0.1
The first version.
Light around the edges of every screen, in the colors of the album cover, that moves with the beat.
A desktop with a big clock, Continue Playing, a cover flow of the artist's albums, search and a glass player.
Synced lyrics, word by word, from LRCLIB. Add or fix lyrics yourself while the song plays.
The music video as a live wallpaper.
A built-in player for songs you start from the desktop.
